We don’t even know where to start with these two. The wonderful, Carisse and Mark. Oh, and their amazing woodlands wedding! It felt like something out of a fairytale. A handmade fairytale filled with love. All of the little details… the stunning invitations featuring Carisse’s own incredible illustrations, the woodlands creature masks, the sweet and simple protea bouquets, metres and metres of bunting, and even the matching hanger for Carisse’s dress. All handmade by Carisse, Mark and their wonderful families.

We played in the gorgeous autumn leaves, drove around in cute VW kombis (which just happened to match the colour theme for the day!) and had a few quiet moments in a historic homestead. It really was a wonderful day! Oh, and it’s not surprising that Carisse has won ‘Bride of the Year’ in New Zealand Weddings magazine! So crazy happy for these two! Will do a wee post about the feature soon!

We are also super excited to be shooting Carisse’s brother’s wedding at the end of the year – cannot wait to see this awesome lot again!

Winnie + Matt | Hamilton Wedding Photographers

I started to write about Winnie and Matt’s wedding with so much enthusiasm that I ended up writing a novel. Which seemed a little overkill since the pictures should really do the talking. I hit delete on that and decided that a short and sweet little list of highlights from us would be better. So here we go…

Brunch. Pancakes. Groom plans wedding = extensive drawing plan of their backyard venue, everything timed down to a tee, and a beautiful sunset-lit ceremony. Incredible drawings done by one of Winnie’s previous students in Macau, China (he is a kid and can draw like that?! Clearly talented!) for their wedding stationery. Poster favours for all the guests. A sweet traditional tea ceremony. Two stages of live music. Doggy ring-bearer. Gorgeous and hilarious bridesmaids in mint (my favourite colour) who sang a song they wrote in their speech. Lanterns, lanterns everywhere. Cupcakes. Fudge. Mojitos. Jenga. More cupcakes. Toasts. Dancing. The getaway car.

We can’t wait to catch up with Winnie and Matt again soon, when they return home to New Zealand to live happily ever after!

Erin + Grant | Hamilton Wedding Photographers

It was love at first sight. I’m referring to my eyes on Erin’s email that is. Erin and I (Danelle) hit it off right away. Email buddies for life. Originally, the wedding plans involved Picton and a classic Irish pub. However, circumstances changed and the wedding budget ended up being spent on a house! There was no phasing Erin and Grant though, and the plans begun for a sweet and simple backyard wedding at their new home.

This wedding is proof that you don’t need a big budget to have one amazing wedding! They hired a glasshouse for the ceremony, followed by drinks and nibbles and a bit of croquet amongst the gardens for the guests as we whisked Erin and Grant away for some photos. Having no bridal party meant that there was more time for us to get around a few different locations we wanted to hit for photos which worked out well. They got in a bit of alone time, with us of course, before we heading back to their home for the evening.

Instead of spending a fortune on a wedding cake, Erin and Grant chose to purchase a bunch of cheesecakes and a delicious lemon meringue pie from The Cheesecake Shop for their dessert table. So wise! There was something for everybody and you can never go wrong with The Cheesecake Shop! Oh, and those giant macarons…. WOAH. They were so good! Grant did well finding those from his favourite local cafe!

Erin looked so stunning in her unconventional Trelise Cooper dress, and the stunning floral bouquet put together by one of her best friends suited her so well. Erin had originally purchased an amazing sequin number for her wedding dress, however when it arrived she realised it was a little too short in the butt region for the ceremony, so instead she decided to crank that one out for a bit of dancing later on. All in all this was one incredibly fun wedding to be involved in and we know that we have made life-long friends in Erin and Grant!

We spent last Saturday amongst the trees with Carisse and Mark at their woodlands themed wedding, funnily enough at Woodlands.

Flower crowns, woodland animal boutonnieres, bowties, baby’s breath, cupcakes, sequins, animal masks, balloons, an ombre cake, kombi vans, proteas, handmade EVERYTHING, so much candy, and many, many owl statues. What more could a couple of night owls like us want in a wedding!
